29 April 2005 Governor Sebelius appoints Richard Taylor to State Building Advisory Commission Governor Kathleen Sebelius announced her appointment of Richard L. Taylor to the State Building Advisory Committee. He will serve a four-year term. “Our government could not function without the many state buildings and facilities around Kansas. And since we’re in the middle of the Capitol restoration, it is important to have appointees to the committee with experience in a wide range of building maintenance and construction fields,” Gov. Sebelius said. The Advisory Committee evaluates and selects a short list of firms to be interviewed by user agencies for capital improvement projects. It also: collects and maintains current data on construction costs; establishes criteria and procedures to evaluate the qualifications and performances of contractors providing architectural, engineering or construction services; and develops and adopts standards for inspection and acceptance of improvement projects. Taylor, El Dorado, is the business manager and financial secretary/treasurer for Plumbers and Pipefitters Local Union 441. Taylor has worked for the Union since 1977, including serving as an apprentice instructor for 19 years. |
