Governor Sebelius appoints Manhattan business owner to Kansas Business Health Policy Committee

Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced her appointment of Jeff Levin, vice-president and co-owner of University Book Store, Inc., to the Kansas Business Health Policy Committee. Levin will serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

The Kansas Business Health Policy Committee oversees grants to small employers for health care insurance.

“With the rising costs of health care becoming an increasing burden on small business owners, these types of grants can be an excellent resource for employers,” Governor Sebelius said. “As a co-owner of a family-owned Kansas business, Jeff recognizes the importance of providing health insurance to employees.”

Since 1999, Levin, Manhattan, has worked as the vice-president and co-owner of University Book Store, Inc., a family-owned business with retail stores in Manhattan and Lawrence. He is currently a board member of the Kansas Chamber of Commerce and Industry, chairman of the USD 383 External Community Budget Committee, and cofounder and chairman of Aggieville Campus Edge Project. Levin has served as a new member diplomat for the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce, Mayor’s Economic Development Task Force, and board member of the Aggieville Business Association. He was a member of the Governor’s Budget Efficiency Savings Team which focused on human services in 2002.
