Governor orders flags lowered in honor of Major General James F. Rueger

The following is a statement by Governor Kathleen Sebelius:

“In paying our respects to Major General James F. Rueger and in following United States of America and Kansas flag protocol, I have requested all flags to be lowered on Thursday, April 21, 2005, the day of his funeral. I urge all Kansans to join me in honoring Major General Rueger’s nearly 50 years of service to the military and Kansas.”

MG Rueger began his military service in 1957. He was appointed to Adjutant General in 1990 and served eight years in that position. Rueger was inducted into the Kansas National Guard Hall of Fame this past November.
