Governor Sebelius appoints Meade resident to Southwest Regional Library System

Governor Kathleen Sebelius today announced her appointment of Evangeline Orme to the Southwest Kansas Regional Library System. Orme will serve for four years.

This branch of the Library System works to consult and advise the state librarian and governor regarding policies, management and services that will best promote and advance the use and usefulness of the state library and its extension services.

“Libraries continue to serve a vital role in our communities as a place where neighbors can gather and where anyone can access books, magazines, the Internet, and any number of sources of information. We must continue to ensure our libraries remain vibrant and I’m confident that Evangeline Orme will help us do that,” Gov. Sebelius said.

Orme, Meade, is a retired co-owner and manager of Fidler-Orme Mortuary. Orme worked for 17 years as a program clerk for the U.S. Government Office of Agriculture, Stabalization and Conservation in Meade, now known as the U.S.D.A. Farm Service Center. Orme is a member of Kansas and National Funeral Directors Association, Meade Friends of the Library and is a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star. Orme also is the president of P.E.O., an organization that promotes education for women.
