Governor Sebelius Appoints one to Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced her appointment of Steve R. Stowers to the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers’ Standards and Training. Stowers will serve a four-year term.

The Commission provides accreditation instruction for police and law enforcement officials and maintains or revokes certification following administrative procedures.

“The strength of our laws comes not from the skill of those who write them, but rather from the skill and dedication of those who enforce them. The commission helps ensure that the men and women who protect us have received the best possible training so they can keep us – and themselves – safe,” Gov. Sebelius said.

Stowers, Hutchinson, is a patrol officer for the Hutchinson Police Department. He works as a field training officer and sniper team member. Stowers is the past president of the local Fraternal Order of Police Lodge and is a current lodge trustee/negotiator.
