Governor Sebelius reappoints four, appoints one to Advisory Board on Historical Records

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced the appointment of Marc Galbraith, as well as four reappointments to the Kansas Historical Records Advisory Board. Each will serve a three-year term.

The Kansas Historical Records Advisory Board is the central advisory body for historical records planning and for projects developed and carried out within the state under the auspices of the National Historical Publications and Records Commission.

“Kansas has such a rich history, and it is important we continue tell the story of our state. These five individuals have demonstrated a commitment to preserving our history for future generations and I appreciate their willingness to serve,” Governor Sebelius said.

Galbraith, Topeka, is the Director of the Research and Information Services Division of the Kansas State Library. Galbraith received his Bachelor of Arts from Washburn University, his Masters of Library Science from Emporia State University and his Masters of Public Administration from the University of Kansas.

In addition to Galbraith’s new appointment, the Governor reappointed four individuals to the board.

David Haury, Ph.D., Topeka, is the Associate Director of the Kansas State Historical Society. Haury received a Bachelor degree from Bethel College, Newton, a Ph.D. in history from Harvard University and a Masters of Library Science from the University of Illinois. Haury was also the Director of Mennonite Library and Archives at Bethel College.

Patricia Michaelis, Ph.D., Topeka, is the Director and State Archivist of the Library and Archives division of the Kansas State Historical Society. Michaelis received a Bachelor degree from Kansas Wesleyan and a Master and Ph.D. in American History from the University of Kansas.

Martin M. Teasley, Abilene, is the Assistant Director for the Dwight D. Eisenhower Library. Teasley has worked with the U.S. National Archives periodically since 1972, after serving as a U.S. Air Force officer in Germany and Vietnam. Teasley received his Bachelor’s degree from Kansas State University, his Master of Arts from Boston University and his Master of Library Science from Emporia State University.

Sheryl K. Williams, Lawrence, is the curator of the Kansas collection at the Spencer Research Library at the University of Kansas. Williams is a courtesy lecturer at KU in the American Studies Department.
