Governor Sebelius Appoints Three to Appraisal Board

Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced three appointments to the Real Estate Appraisal Board.

The Real Estate Appraisal Board, once part of the Real Estate Commission, focuses on real estate appraisers’ licenses as well as regulating the appraisers.

“It is important to have qualified Kansans on this board,” Gov. Sebelius said. “I appreciate their willingness to work.”

Philip L. Bowman, Wichita, is a real estate, banking, commercial and insurance law and litigation attorney with Adams & Jones. Bowman, who is listed in the Best Lawyers in America for real estate lawyers, graduated from the University of Kansas with both his Bachelor degree and his law degree. Bowman began his career in Bushton, and has since spent more than 40 years with Adams & Jones. Bowman will serve a three-year term.

Timothy J. Keller, Lawrence, has been a principal of Keller and Associates since 1996. Keller, who graduated from Fort Hays State with a Bachelors degree and Notre Dame University with his MBA, was an appraiser for Nunnink & Associates, in Westwood. He was a controller for Keller Leopold Insurance out of Garden City, and he worked as an accountant for special projects for Koch Industries. Keller will serve a three-year term.

Mike McKenna, Jennings, is an appraiser for McKenna Appraisal Services, Inc. McKenna, who received his Bachelor of Science degree from Fort Hays State University, has worked for Farm Credit Bank of Wichita, Federal Land Bank Associations of Colby and Garden City and Kingman Production Credit Association. McKenna is a member of American Society of Farm Managers and Rural Appraisers and the National Association of Independent Fee Appraisers. McKenna will serve a four-year term.
