10 March 2005 Governor Sebelius Appoints two to the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners Governor Kathleen Sebelius has announced her appointment of Richard D. Coffelt and Mary S. Painter to the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners. Both will serve four-year terms. The Board promotes health, safety and welfare by examining and licensing applicants for veterinary medicine and inspects and registers licensed veterinarians. “We count on veterinarians to care for our pets,” Gov. Sebelius said. “It is important we have qualified professionals in that role.” Coffelt, Hays, taught at Fort Hays State University between 1999 and 2002, and is an attorney. Coffelt graduated from the University of Kansas with his Bachelor of Arts and his Law Degree and practiced law from 1960 to 1998. Coffelt serves on the Humane Society Board. Painter, Frontenac, is a Veterinarian and Partner at Town & Country Animal Hospital. Painter, who first attended Pittsburg State University, graduated from Kansas State University with her Bachelor of Science and her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. Painter is a member of the Pawprints on the Heartland Steering Committee, the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Kansas Veterinary Hospital Association. |
