Topeka – Kansas Governor Sam Brownback today announced Anthony Schlinsog will serve as the executive branch’s Chief Information Technology Officer (CITO). Schlinsog had been serving as the interim CITO since last November.
“I am happy to welcome Anthony to the team,” Governor Brownback said. “Our state must catch up with advances in technology, improve communication between state agencies and boost business efficiency, saving taxpayers money. Anthony has the experience and expertise to lead a smooth IT system transition from an outdated and duplicative system to one that is contemporary and uniform.”
In November, Governor Brownback issued Executive Order 11-46 that directs all non-Regents Executive branch agency IT directors and staff to report directly to the newly created CITO.
The duties of the CITO include responsibility for all systems that deliver appropriate information to all levels of governments, improving IT efficiency and effectiveness across agencies and providing the agencies with a core set of reliable services that allow the agencies to focus on their unique IT missions.
“The state has an extraordinary opportunity to vastly improve its information technology system and I am honored to be a part of making that happen,” Schlinsog said. “We will focus on updating the system to provide uniformity, improve communication and save taxpayer dollars.”
Prior to being named Interim CITO, Schlinsog served for four years as Chief Information Officer for the Kansas Department of Transportation. Previously, he was the Manager of Data Development and Informatics for the Child Health Corporation of America. Before that, Schlinsog spent 13 years with the Government Employees Health Association. During that time, he was a Data Analyst, Senior Application Developer, Manager of Client Server Development, and a Project Manager.
