EXECUTIVE ORDER 06-11

WHEREAS, President George W. Bush has exercised his authority pursuant to §12302 of Title 10 of the United States Code and ordered selected members of the Kansas National Guard to federal active duty for extended periods in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Noble Eagle and Operation Iraqi Freedom.

WHEREAS, thousands of Kansas Army National Guard Soldiers and Kansas Air National Guard Airmen have been ordered to federal active duty since September 11, 2001.

WHEREAS, the State of Kansas should take all necessary and appropriate steps to assist all military members and their families who face potential disruptions caused by being called to active duty in the Nation’s ongoing war against terrorism.

WHEREAS, the need for vital statistics information is often required by members of the armed forces due to residence changes or status change.

NOW, THEREFORE, pursuant to the authority vested in me as Governor of the State of Kansas, I hereby declare that, in order to support our military personnel, requests for vital statistic records by all members of the Kansas National Guard who have received an alert notice of pending active duty or have already been placed on Federal active duty for mobilization and their dependents shall be fulfilled without charge.
