The Outside
Be sure to
notice the rose garden pond (shown left), the sunflower
gate and fountain
area as you depart. The gate was designed by Forged Designs by Amir and
made in Kansas City. The fountain is on the west side of the house and
was formerly in front of the Administration Building on the Topeka State
Hospital grounds. It was refurbished to complete the Donor Park area. The
fountain and benches make a beautiful gathering place for groups visiting
Cedar Crest and, at the same time, recognize the individuals and businesses
who contributed to the restoration of this wonderful, old home.
The outside of Cedar Crest is a marvel to see. The front view as you come up the walkway, the East side view, the Southwest view and the West view all show the beauty and craftmanship in any light from the shingles ontop the roof to the brick walkway.
