The Morning Room
Used as a
breakfast room and music room by previous administrations, this intimate
dining area is a favorite gathering place for informal meals and meetings.
The room features the work of two noted Kansas artists, John Steuart
Curry and Birger Sandzen.
Windows to accommodate air conditioning units when the State of Kansas first acquired the home had replaced French doors original to the house. With a new heating and cooling system, the doors were restored and now lead to a private patio area. Contractors who worked on the restoration gave Ken Smith, Cedar Crest grounds administrator, overages from the project. Ken used these materials to construct a playhouse.
