The Living Room

photo of the Cedar Crest living room
Formal entertaining takes place in the living room (shown right). The floors are random length oak planks with walnut strip spacers and walnut pegs. The floors were refinished during the restoration and the walnut woodwork, all the walls, shelves and beams, were cleaned and waxed. The books that line the walls are from Frank MacLennan's personal library and as dictated by his widow's will, must always remain in the house.

The Colorado Travertine marble fireplace features carved oak leaves. The oak leaf design is repeated in both the leaded glass window on the landing of the grand staircase and the edging on the custom-designed area carpet in the foyer and up the staircase.
