The Garden Room

photo of the Cedar Crest Garden Room
What was once a screened porch has become a comfortable gathering place in all seasons, providing much needed entertainment space.

All the windows in the house were restored or replaced during the renovation. The 1928 manufacturer of the home's leaded glass windows, Crittall Windows, remade the original windows replacing single paned glass for insulated glass and restoring the window's original hardware. Crittall was also able to replicate the windows for the Garden Room making it appear to have always been a part of the house.

Two favorite items to the room are a Duffner and Kimberly leaded glass lamp in a wisteria pattern of Tiffany Kokomo glass. This lamp came from the original Governor's residence on Buchanan Street. The buffet was designed and built by Mike Livingston of Hutchinson. It features the carved thistle so predominant throughout the house.
